Definition of Sympathy Expression
Sympathy expression is an expression or feeling of pity and
sorrow when we know and see someone or people are unlucky or have trouble and
in bad condition.
Example :
your friend’s grandfather is sick, it makes your friend sad. You can entertaint
your friend by showing sympathy.
By expressing sympathy we want to show our concern or
carefulness on other people's condition .
•Make sad people that
have a trouble or in bad condition become happy.
•Make people know that we care with them
3. Function of the Expressing Sympathy•Make people know that we care with them
•Used to expressing
sympathy feeling on care to someone who has a problem or who got an accident
and have experienced something bad or terrible.
4. Goal of Expressing Sympathy
•To offer your compassion
and concern for the bereaved. You can say how much you will miss the perosn who
died or you can share a happy memory. The most important thing to comunicate is
that you care about the bereaved person and you are available as a source of
support.
5. How Do We Show Our Sympathy?
•We
express it directly to him/her orally, say something supportive. Let your
friend know that you know about his/her sadness. Let your friend know that you care and want to help her/ him.
•We also
can use a letter, card, post, short message service and e-mail if he/she who got the trouble is far from us .
To express sympathy,
we have 3 kinds situation.
They are:
1. Formal
2. Neutral
3. Informal
Exanple :
I’m extremely sorry to hear that.
I’m sorry to hear that.
That’s awful.
I was deeply sorry to hear.
You must be very upset.
Oh dear.
What a terrible situation for you.
I know how it feels.
Poor you
You have my deepest sympathy
How terrible/awful.

Please accept my condolences. (when someone has died)
